Sitting within the Minoru Park in the heart of Richmond, the $80 million complex, named the Minoru Centre for Active Living, will be an iconic 110,000 square feet facility located at the southwest corner of the Minoru Civic Precinct. The facility will house aquatic and fitness services, seniors’ services, and amenities to support the surrounding sports fields. It will replace the 57-year-old Minoru Aquatic Centre, Minoru Place Activity Centre and the former Minoru Pavilion.

This is Richmond’s most expensive owned and operated facility, and the second-most expensive public infrastructure project in history, after the city spent $118 million on the total $178 million Richmond Olympic Oval.

Atlas worked closely with the contractor to design a fall protection system that worked with the intricate roof design and multiple construction details that were used to build the roof on this project.

    819 Yates Street, Victoria, BC

Located in the core of Victoria’s downtown, across the street from the Atrium, the purpose-built mixed-use development contains ground floor retail with 209 rental apartments above. It has a very intricate exterior design and includes three levels of underground parking, a rooftop deck as well as a communal patio area on level 12 that features a custom kitchen.

This is Chard Development’s 7th consecutive project in Victoria since 2003, and the project has been pre-sold to Realstar – a major Canadian investment group and operator who will own and manage the rental suites.

There were areas of the construction that required Atlas to provide a detail that compensated for the build-up on parapet walls. CST pedestals were used in a horizontal application as a spacer to get solid bearing on the concrete and still keep the anchor flush with the finished wall material. Eliminating any damage to the wall when anchors are in use.

    Seabus Terminal Roof

    Seabus Terminal Roof

Seabus Terminal Buildings (North and South)

2 Chesterfield Road, North Vancouver, 495 West Waterfront Road, Vancouver

SeaBus carries approximately 16,000 passengers per day, carrying over six million people on an annual basis. Since the ferry service began operation in 1978, there have been few upgrades to the SeaBus terminals. To keep the riders and employees safe, a major overhaul of SeaBus terminals on both sides of Burrard Inlet and the administration building in Lonsdale is needed.

The $12.5M project is to retrofit the roof, metal cladding, and windows of the terminal buildings in Lonsdale Quay (North Terminal) and Waterfront (South Terminal).

Atlas worked closely with client and project participants to ensure all roof top maintenance requirements could be carried out safely and effectively. Using our rigid extruded aluminum rail we attached directly to standing seam roof, eliminating any penetrations through the roof itself. The system facilitates safe access to perimeter roof drains and mechanical equipment without the need to transfer between independent anchor points. Atlas provided a safe, functional and cost effective solution for this high profile project.
