The opening of Metro Vancouver’s $1.4B Evergreen Line Skytrain extension in 2017 boosts high-density development at the line’s suburban stations, making the Tri-Cities region more attractive to developers and new residents. Thousands of units were under development while the SkyTrain was under construction.

Among them the 26 storeys 180 units project is developed by Vancouver iconic Beedie Development Group. The building is angled to allow more units to take advantage of available views. It is close to Simon Fraser University, and just one block from the Skytrain station and five minutes from the hiking trails of Burnaby Mountain.

The owners of this building felt that the longboard soffit was one of this project’s key features in the design of the building. By using a combination of monorail and underhung beams we were able to minimize the penetrations to the longboard soffit below the upper roof and maintain its beauty.

    Strathcona Village

    933 East Hasting Street, Vancouver

Claimed as the first ever industrial, retail, office, and residential mixed-used development in North America, the boxy 283-unit project takes cues from the nearby shipping containers at Vancouver Harbour, employing an irregular red and orange palette that easily catches the attention of passersby. Three towers of varying heights comprise the multi-faceted complex, which is designed to LEED Sliver standard by the award-winning GBL Architects.

The complicated design of this project proved to be a challenge for all involved. Our experienced staff were able to design a system that functions well with the building.
