Silver Tower

One of the newest towers to go up in the thriving Metrotown area, The Silver is a prime example of the range of ATLAS’ abilities. We have incorporated a davit system into The Silver to facilitate scheduled and unscheduled building maintenance operations. Rooftop maintenance operations at the lower podium levels has been accomplished with a combination of horizontal lifelines at the perimeter gardens and single point pedestal anchors on the green roofs.

Groves of Varsity

The Groves of Varsity is a steel and concrete building in the heart of Calgary’s award winning Northwest community called Varsity. It features a central courtyard, water features, walking paths, LRT access and extensive surrounding shopping areas. The community offers beautifully designed suites with comfortable senior living in mind, and the Lifestyle offers a wide range of services and amenities that allow its senior resident members to preserve their independence.

Atlas faced access challenges for the install of the rope guides at eyebrow\cornice locations which required the use of a Boom Lift. Atlas installed systems on all of the buildings at the Grove.Applications:

Christ Church Cathedral

690 Burrard Street, Vancouver

The Anglican cathedral is Vancouver’s oldest surviving church. It opened in 1889 and was used as a landmark for ships entering Vancouver harbour. Since 2004 there has been $12.5 million spent on the cathedral to renew and restore the fabric of the building. The steel and stained glass BELL TOWER, located on the northeast side of the Anglican cathedral, is the centerpiece of a $7.5-million renovation to the historic building at Georgia and Burrard.

Atlas worked with the designers and fabricators of the BELL TOWER, to design and install a Permanent Fall Protection System combining Atlas Single Point Spiral anchors along with a (Pre-Manufacturered) Flexible Cable Ladder Safety System to protect workers climbing the BELL TOWER ladder and working within.

Evolution Phase II – Pulse

Developed by Vancouver’s Embassy BOSA, the three-phase riverfront project – “Evolution” – encompasses high-rise and mid-rise condominium towers, town homes and street-level retail, on the East Village area in Calgary. With an estimated value of $325 million, Evolution will comprise approximately 730,000 square feet of mixed-use development including 600+ residential units.
PULSE, the Evolution’s second phase, is a 33 stories tower built between 2013 and 2016.

Manitoba Hydro

820 Tylor Ave, Winnipeg MB

Constructed between 1957 and 1958, this L-shape 60,000 square feet towering structure was originally constructed as a head office for the newly created Manitoba Hydro Electric Board established in 1953. The company became Manitoba Hydro in 1961, a crown corporation of the government of Manitoba. Subsequently, in 1963, the Manitoba Power Commission (MPC) amalgamated and all 375 staff relocated to this building.

Canada Place, Vancouver

Canada Place is the main cruise ship terminal for the region, where most of Vancouver’s cruises to Alaska originate. The building’s unique exterior is covered by fabric roofs resembling the sails of a ship. It is part of and adjacent to the Vancouver Convention Centre and includes the Pan Pacific Vancouver Hotel, Vancouver’s World Trade Centre, and FlyOver Canada.

Atlas has worked in conjunction with Canada Place over the the past 15+ years. Atlas has designed, supplied and installed a number of fall protection systems including a Horizontal Life Line to enable roof top maintenance, including the sails themselves, systems to enable the install of large LED Screens and anchors to provide the safe maintenance of raised planter boxes. Flexibility in design and cooperation with the client was key as needs have been identified and changes made at this iconic Vancouver building.

Britannia Crossing

Elbow Drive SW, Calgary

Britannia Crossing is a five storey, mixed use, boutique commercial development located in a prestigious community on a prominent high exposure corner of Elbow Drive and 50th Avenue SW in Calgary.

Atlas was involved with this project from the early concept stage. A redesign of the Fall Protection system was required when solar panels were subsequently added to the roof after the initial design was completed. Close co-ordination with the contractor and solar panel supplier resulted in a safe and user friendly system for both fall protection when working on the roof, as well as window washing.

Riddell Library & Learning Centre

Mount Royal Circle SW, Calgary

With almost 16,000 square metres of functional space, the Riddell Library & Learning Centre is four times larger than the previous library. Offering flexible, multimedia teaching spaces, a student learning commons, group study and media production rooms. A hub for lectures, presentations and other public events.

Working with the General Contractor, Stuart Olsen, Atlas designed an optimum exterior building maintenance system requiring the minimum amount of reinforcing of the host structure.

Evergreen @ Westwood Village

3007 Glen Dr Coquitlam BC

A 30 storey high rise with 195 units. Evergreen is the final tower in the Westwood Village project, which is next to Coquitlam city hall.

ATLAS designed and installed a system to facilitate Roof Top Maintenance & Bosun’s Chair Window Washing of the building.

ATLAS worked closely with the client to meet changes required by the client in product and installation due to the demands of their Construction Schedule.
